Mr. Stage has over three decades of experience in the building science industry and over a decade of experience as an Industrial Hygienist and Environmental Health Consultant. He is an experience mold and bacteria professional, asbestos
inspector, and an Indoor Environmental Professional. He is also an experienced food safety consultant. Mr. Stage is a graduate of the University of Maryland (Summa cum Laude) and holds a Master’s Degree from Georgia State University (Magna cum Laude). He is a life member of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and is completing a Master’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene at Tulane University. - Graduate Certificate in Industrial Hygiene – Tulane School of Tropical Medicine and Public Health. Tulane University’s graduate certificate program is accredited by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) and meets the educational requirements for admittance to the certified Industrial Hygiene (CIH) examination.
- MSPH Program – Tulane University. Completed 14 of the 16 required graduate courses towards the Master of Science in Public Health (Industrial Hygiene). Tulane’s Graduate Industrial Hygiene program is accredited by the American Board of Industrial Hygienists (ABIH). Mr. Stage is scheduled to graduate in 2010.
- Member-American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA). AIHA is one of the largest international associations for professionals practicing industrial hygiene in industry, government, labor, academic institutions, and independent organizations. Membership in AIHA requires proof of undergraduate/graduate academic achievement in specific scientific areas and evidence of experience in industrial hygiene or occupational health fields. In addition to providing training and resources for its members, AIHA is one of the most respected accrediting organizations for labs conducting analysis of microbial testing samples. - Certified Professional of Food Safety (CP-FS) - National Environmental Health Association (NEHA). NEHA was founded in 1937 to “advance the environmental health and protection personnel for the purpose of providing a healthful environment for all”. The CP-FS Credential is considered the most prestigious for professionals responsible for food safety in both the private sector and government public health organizations. CP-FS Candidates are evaluated for experience, knowledge of food microbiology, and understanding of food safety regulations (including the FDA Food Code).
- Board Certified Indoor Air Quality Professional (CIAQP) - Association of Energy Engineers. AEE's Certified Indoor Air Quality Professional (CIAQP) program is designed to provide recognition for indoor air quality professionals who have demonstrated a high level of competence in their field, and an in-depth knowledge of the principles and practices of indoor air quality assessment, design, management, and problem mitigation. Individuals earning the right to put "CIAQP" behind their names have distinguished themselves as leaders in their profession, exhibiting excellence in the areas of specialized knowledge, experience, proficiency and ethical fitness. The CIAQP certification requires meeting exacting experience and educational requirements and passing a closed-book lengthy examination. CIAQP Number: 473
- Member-Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA). The Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA) was established in 1995 to promote uniform standards, procedures and protocols in the Indoor Air Quality industry. IAQA provides training and oversight to individuals and organizations seeking IAQ Council Certifications. IAQA Number: 11187
- Certified Level I Thermographer – Infrared Training Center. ITC Infrared Thermography Certifications are globally recognized and are designed to exceed the requirements of international infrared certification standards. ITC's Level I Infrared Course meets all Level I ASNT-SNT-TC-1A recommendations for thermal/infrared testing established by the American Society for Non-Destructive Testing (ASNT). ITC Number: 30354
- Member – AIHA Georgia Local Section (GLS). The Georgia Local Section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association meets every quarter to conduct training and information sessions. Members learn and discuss the most current industrial hygiene issues and methods. Training sessions alternate between half and full day sessions.
- Certified Moisture Analyst – Exterior Design Institute (EDI). EDI is the largest Third-Party moisture inspector training and membership organization. An EDI CMA is trained to detect moisture using both moisture probing and surface scanning type moisture meters. Emphasis is placed on detecting moisture that is hidden or concealed (i.e., behind walls). EDI certification requires extensive training and testing. EDI Number: GA47
- AHERA/EPA/ASHARA (TSCA Title II) Accredited Asbestos Inspector. This is the EPA designated asbestos inspector accreditation. It requires extensive training and passing of a comprehensive closed-book examination on asbestos, inspection techniques and protocols, and knowledge of the National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) regulations. - Certified Radon Measurement Provider - National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP). NRPP certification is the successor to the original (and now defunct) EPA Radon Certification. A person holding the residential measurement credential is qualified to place, retrieve, and interpret the results of a measurement device analyzed by a NEHA certified Analytical Laboratory. In addition to this certification, Mr. Stage also holds the NRPP Standard Analytical Services Certification which authorizes him to interpret data from Continuous Radon Monitors (CRMs). - Certified Combination Residential Inspector – International Code Conference (ICC). Full building code certification. The ICC Residential Combination Inspector Certification is the highest code certification issued to individuals who conduct residential inspections. Certification requires several months of classroom instructed followed by four separate closed-book comprehensive examinations. ICC Number: 51888755-R5
- American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) – Certified Home Inspector. ASHI is the oldest and most respected professional home inspector organization. ASHI establishes inspection standards, protocols, and a code of ethics for professional building inspectors. ASHI Certification requires evidence of completion of a minimum of 250 inspections (conducted to ASHI Standards) and passing the National Home Inspector Examination (NHIE). ASHI Number: 210045
- Formerly served on the Board of Directors- Georgia Association of Home Inspectors.
- In addition to his inspection/technical qualifications, Mr. Stage has several years experience as a classroom instructor and frequently conducts classes in Realtor and Inspector training. His articles have appeared in numerous trade publications and he has served as an expert court witness.
